ILM Level 5 Certificate in Leadership & Management Skills

This course follows on from the Level 5 Award course and continues to builds your knowledge and skills by focusing on developing yourself and others, using powerful coaching techniques as part of your daily work and effectively managing a team to achieve organisational goals.

7 days training (45 guided learning hours)

Modules

 

Module 1:  Welcome & Induction and Team Management Profile (1 day)

This event covers your understanding of the programme, what you can expect from us and self assessment of your preferred style of working.

 

Module 2:   Assessing Individual Development Needs (1 day)

This session covers all aspects of assessing, developing and maintaining performance in the workplace, including covering learning styles, development planning and evaluation of effectiveness.

 

Module 3:  Coaching for Improved Performance ( 2 days) 

This extensive 2 day session session explores coaching, how and when coaching can be used to its best advantage, key skills to being an effective coach and self assessment of your coaching development needs.  It also covers developing powerful questioning/listening skills, learning the GROW model and plenty of real coaching practice!

 

Module 4:  Managing Individuals to Achieve Organisational Goals (1 day)

This module sets the context for managing individuals and the various considerations needed when dealing with different sectors. You will also cover how factors can influence behaviours at work, the individuals role in the team/organisation and how well do you manage individuals to achieve organisational goals and objectives.

 

Module 5:  Leading and Developing Teams (1 day)

This session covers the characteristics of an effective team, considering teams in different contexts, team assessment and stages of team development. You will also learn how to recognise the roles of individuals within a team and their effect on one another. Team motivation techniques and team performance monitoring will also be covered before moving on to assessing your team leadership style.

 

Module 6:  Assessing your own Leadership Capability and Performance (1 day)

Assess your preferred leadership style.  Evaluate your emotional intelligence and learn how to how to increase your ability to  influence and develop leadership skills with a focus on goal setting and planning future personal development.

 

Module Information

Each module is delivered using a variety of practical examples and focuses on getting you to use your real life workplace examples to assist learning and understanding. Most modules are delivered in group situations which opens the opportunity to learn more about other working styles and practices, have group discussions and receive feedback.

Assessment

Participants must attend all sessions and submit one work based assignment for assessment.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements however participants must be working in a management position and have a minimum two years experience.
